THE AUDITION WORKOUT:

(PROFESSIONAL ACTORS ONLY WITH EXPERIENCE WHO ARE CONSISTENTLY AUDITIONING)  – Please note that this is an 8-WEEK CLASS for the serious actor with prior training and experience.

The Audition Workout class unmasks the audition process by providing you with the skills and confidence needed to make an affect on tape or in an audition room. The first class will consist of a lecture covering headshots, resume, appearance, and audition preparation.  Throughout the following seven weeks, actors will perform mock auditions from drama and comedy, inclusive of multiple genres and styles.   Students will receive new material every week, or bring in material of their own that they would like to focus upon. All must come to class fully prepared, just as if it was an actual audition, and then each student will receive a full critique. If necessary, students may bring the same scene back the following week after having more time to enhance their work and incorporate the notes they received during class.  The auditions will be filmed for self-critique.  If the actor wants the video file, he or she must provide an SD card for a Canon Vixia camera  HD G20 (class 10.)

THE WEEKLY WORKOUT:

(FOR INTERMEDIATE TO ADVANCED ACTORS) – Please note that this is an ONGOING CLASS for the serious actor with prior training and experience.

Class will cover overviews; of the most prominent methods used in acting, script analysis, and how one researches a character.   Students will then focus on preparation, developing a character inside and out, technique, and performance through continuous scene work.

The scene work in class is designed to cover every medium (including stage) with a very strong concentration in camera work. The material will address different genres or styles principally related to television and film and the technique required to bring that genre to life.   Scenes will be provided for the student or he or she may choose to bring in material of their own.  However, if a student has an audition he or she would like to work on in class that will be permitted as long as the actor gives their scene partner notice so they can make other arrangements for that class.  Each student will work every week and all scene work will be filmed for self-critique.   If the actor wants the video file, he or she must provide an SD card for a Canon Vixia camera  HD G20 (class 10.)

In addition to the scene work, the curriculum will encompass learning skills to utilize when working under the constraints presented in television and film. There are many – the ability to cope with film auditioning, auditioning with no prep time, cold readings, lack of rehearsal, multiple takes, shooting out of sequence, working under extreme close-up, and the art of being on camera. When we focus on these new skills, scene work will not be rehearsed between the scene partners prior to class.  The actors will come together for the first time in class and perform the material, simulating what often exists when working in television and film.

If you want to work hard, grow, have fun and become the best that you can be this is your class.
